Gifts, Music, and Gathering at the Community Trunk Party 6-26-26

Community Trunk Party, Parkside Fishtown, Philadelphia 

Returning to Parkside Fishtown for the Community Trunk Party felt like meeting a familiar space in a new way. This time, I was not only performing. I was also helping hold the energy of the event as a host.

 

Hosting has taught me that connection happens between the songs too. It is in how people are welcomed, how artists are introduced, how the room is encouraged, and how we make others feel safe enough to participate.

 

The spirit of giving made this event especially meaningful. Guests could enter by bringing a gift, which turned the gathering into something larger than entertainment. Music became part of an exchange rooted in generosity.

 

I was grateful to Dre Velour for the opportunity and to every person who contributed their time, talent, presence, or gift. Nights like this remind me that creativity can serve many purposes at once. It can entertain, encourage, gather, and give back.

 

I left thankful for the chance to use my voice in more than one way.

 

Reflection: Sometimes taking the stage means performing. Sometimes it means helping everyone else feel like they belong in the room.
